What is Leneda?

The Luxembourg government, in collaboration with Creos, the nation's electricity and gas transmission network operator, is proud to launch Leneda, the national energy data platform designed to simplify and safeguard all your energy-related administrative processes.

Purpose of Leneda

Leneda is Luxembourg’s premier energy data platform, giving you full control over your energy information. With Leneda, you can easily monitor your consumption and production patterns, ensuring that your data remains exclusively yours. The platform empowers you to decide who can access your energy data and allows you to share or revoke access anytime. Leneda also ensures that energy market participants can operate more efficiently, all while keeping you informed about who is accessing your data.

Under the law of February 3rd, 2021, Leneda was established as a centralized energy data platform by the Transmission System Operator (TSO) for electricity. This platform is designed to integrate data from various sources, such as electricity, gas, water, and heat, creating a unified, streamlined system. The TSO is tasked with ensuring Leneda operates efficiently and cost-effectively, with expenses factored into network tariffs. The platform’s functionality, specifications, financing, and data access rules are all governed by Grand-Ducal regulation.

History of Leneda

Back in 2021, Creos took the first bold step toward transforming energy data management in Luxembourg by drafting a visionary concept paper. This document outlined the core functionalities and an ambitious roadmap for the Leneda platform, setting the stage for a game-changing solution in the energy market. After securing the support of key stakeholders, Creos began the meticulous process of building and developing the platform.

In autumn 2023 the vision became reality with the successful launch of Leneda’s first version. This milestone marked the beginning of a new era in energy data management, where technical master data between DSO backend systems and Leneda were seamlessly synchronized for smooth daily operations. To further ensure top-notch data quality and security, Leneda integrated with trusted third-party tools like LuxTrust and ID Now.

In 2024, the momentum continued as Leneda expanded its capabilities. Customer onboarding solutions were integrated, and a new, harmonized Market Communication system for Luxembourg started to be developed. By the summer of 2024, Leneda was ready to welcome the public, offering cutting-edge data access and management services. And this is just the beginning—more innovative features are on the horizon, ready to empower users like never before.
